Failed & Short notice cancellation of appointment policy

We run a very busy dental surgery at Six Gables and unattended appointments are a waste of time for the deal team’s valuable time. With adequate notice we are able to offer the slot cancelled to patients that may be in pain or waiting a very long time for the next appointment. For this reason we have a policy in place for patients that fail or cancel their appointment with very little notice.

In line with the local health board regulations for NHS Patients, if the patient is to fail to attend two appointments or cancel’s short notice four times or a combination of both within a two year period, we have the right to deny any further treatment at this practice as an NHS patient. We have similar polices for both private and Denplan patients.

If you fail to attend an appointment we will make you aware of the policy before booking another appointment. Should you fail to attend the appointment that has been re arranged for you there would be a Final Failed to attend letter that states that you will no longer be able to be seen at this practice as an NHS patient.

Should you need to cancel or re arrange your appointment we would like at least 48 hours’ notice, Or 24hrs at the latest, Anything after this will be logged as a short notice cancellation. Patients will be warned verbally if they cancel an appointment short notice.
