NHS Failed & Short notice cancellation of appointment policy
We run a very busy dental surgery at Six Gables and unattended appointments are a waste of time for the deal team’s valuable time. With adequate notice we are able to offer the slot cancelled to patients that may be in pain or waiting a very long time for the next appointment. For this reason we now have a policy in place for patients that fail or cancel their appointment with very little notice.
In line with the local health board regulations for NHS Patients, if the patient is to fail to attend two appointments or cancel’s short notice four times or a combination of both within a two year period, we have the right to deny any further treatment at this practice as an NHS patient. We have a similar policy for both Denplan and Private patients.
If an appointment is failed upon booking their next appointment you will be made aware of the policy that we have in place. Should you fail to attend the appointment that has been re arranged for them they will then receive a Final FTA letter that states we will no longer be able to be seen here under the NHS.
Should you need to cancel or re arrange your appointment we would like at least 48 hours’ notice, Or 24hrs at the latest. Anything after this will be logged as a short notice cancellation.
